Ignorance&Bliss

Afraid? No

We had to research on some topics for our inter-block Tazkirah competition on "love", and I was feeling all religious when I asked my friend one question;

"Why do we like somebody? I mean, why do we get the feelings of liking someone? When it's forbidden for us to have a relationship before marriage anyway?"

It didn't take a long time for her to answer this. "When we like someone, it's actually God assigning us to protect them, Allah suruh kita jaga dia"

I didn't asked further questions after that, but I find the idea extremely cute.

"Protecting" can be elaborated into various ways these days. It doesn't have to include physical protection in fist fights et cetra, but also in ways that does not involve the consciousness of the person you like. When you love someone, you would care about them. You'd defend any bad rumour about them spreading around or would help them in need. It's like they'll always have your back whether they realise it or not. Sure they have a family and friends and such. But you're like a special guardian sent from the above. Another form of strength. It's not your obligation nevertheless. You are not forced to do it. But normally it would come naturally.

There are times where the person would not have the similar feeling towards you as you do towards them. But you have the power to determine whether they deserve your attention (or in this case, protection) or not. Don't waste to much of your time for people who won't even notice you. But when the feelings are mutual, both of you are assigned to protect each other. And that's the main purpose of love. You become each other's strength and weakness. Maybe it wont last forever, but cherish it for the time being. And maybe out there, there are people who are protecting you without you even seeing it. Don't live to find love, love will eventually come to you when you deserve it.

Your love is limited, you don't have the energy or ability to protect everyone. Use it wisely.

With SPM coming up, Syasya decides to write her journey to the biggest determiner of her life. (notice the brackets in her post counting down the days to the start of it) Turning 17 two days before Bahasa Melayu Paper 1, Syasya is an ambitious girl no taller than 5 foot 3, but with dreams higher than the sky. She spends her free time reading, sleeping, writing and lepaking. Syasya's a little bit weird sometimes, but, well, she likes to be different.
